Jardine Clan Society Gathering 2023





Thanks to all who attended the AGM and gathering in Dumfries, Scotland. It was superbly organised by Adrena Duffin.


The AGM took place on Saturday was then followed by a visit to the Dumfries Museum and the Camera Obscura. Lunch wast the Edenvale Hotel. After this there was a visit to the ruins of Lincluden Abbey, built as a Nunnery in the 12th century, then converted to a Collegiate Church in the 1400s. The site of an important meeting in 1448 which laid down “the ordinances of war”.


There was then a tour of the Garden of Cosmic Speculation at Portrack  House. Garden designed by the late Charles Jencks, husband of Maggie Keswick famed for the Maggie Centres in Scotland for cancer Patients. In the evening the Clan dinner and Ceilidh took place in the Cairndale Hotel.


Sunday started with a service at Applegarth Church followed by a visit to the original Jardine Motte in the Manse Garden. Lunch was at Spedlins followed by a tour and then visit to the site and ruins of Lochmaben Castle. A royal castle that features prominently in Border history.


Monday featured a visit to Threave Tower and the Scottish National Trust Gardens at Threave and then lunch in the restaurant at Threave.
